Interaction between Lifeline Foundation and NSIT-IFSCS on “Integrating Forensic and AI in Highway Accident Management

Ahmedabad, 22 January l Highway Accident Statistics are really alarming. National highways in India saw 26,770 deaths in the first half of 2025, averaging 147 daily, highlighting ongoing road safety challenges. National highways continue to claim more than 50,000 lives annually, with 147 people dying daily on average in the first half of 2025. Lifeline Foundation Managing Trustee and CEO Padma Shree Awardee Dr. Subrato Das visited Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology-Institute of Forensic Sciences and Cyber Security, Jetalpur, Ahmedabad. Prof.(Dr.) Sailesh Iyer Principal, NSIT-IFSCS described the interaction of Research and Development Cell (R&D Cell, NSIT-IFSCS) with Lifeline Foundation as fruitful and focussing on leveraging Forensic Science, AI, and Cybersecurity for improved highway accident management, trauma care, and crime scene investigation. Integration of forensic SOP’s and AI tools to enhance accident investigations and training police officers to preserve crime scenes and establishing highway helpline centres and forensic response vehicles for quicker support are the need of the hour. Inputs from Dr. Keshav Kumar, Former IPS and Dr. Subroto Das was highly appreciated which realigns with NSIT-IFSCS vision and mission. NSIT-IFSCS committed its resolve to aid and take a lead in Highway Accident and Trauma Management and welcomed collaboration to set up Centre of Excellence in this regard. Institute Professor Dr. Vishali Sharma said that senior professors of the institute Dr. Geeta Gupta, Dr. Shivani Pandya, Dr. Nikunj, Dr. Kalpesh and Vinay Aseri etc. also participated in the dialogue and expressed their views.
